How Plausible do you think it is to be an EMT and go to nursing school at the same time? I am considering taking the EMT basic course next semester while im still taking basics so that way I can work too. I am about to take a job as a CNA at a nursing home but I would rather work as an EMT while in school. My only concern is the long shifts. Any thoughts?

There are a couple of EMT's and Paramedics in my program and they never complain about scheduling issues. Plus I think they are great to have in class. They were able to provide first hand knowledge when we went over critical care. And also had some input when we had our psych and ob classes.

Very plausible, but very tiring. I put myself through nursing school working as an EMT in a local ER. I worked 2 doubles and an 8 every weekend, and did school during the week. On the up side, I was able to go straight into ICU right out of school--working in the ER, even as an EMT gave me a pretty good knowledge base on top of school.
