How to pick up and move after graduation

Hey! I am graduating soon and a couple months ago was like you wanting to relocate to Florida from out of state! I would start with narrowing your search to a specific area or two, like Jacksonville for example. Do a lot of research on the area, look at maps, find info on the counties in Jacksonville. This will give you an idea of the city. If you go to UNITED STATES QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau you can find out a lot about different places.

When it comes to hospital literally search 'Jacksonville Hospitals'. Search google, and search on here! After finding hospitals or health care systems you may be interested in, read their websites up and down. Especially pay attention to parts of their sites for prospective employees. Then search those specific places on websites like glassdoor, indeed, or career bliss. Definitely search specific places on here too!

It is hard to relocate to a new area for a new job! I cant stress enough how much time I spent researching and reading about different hospitals. I knew that it may be difficult to be taken seriously as a new RN coming from far away, so I began reaching out to nurse recruiters about 2-3 months before I applied. That was not easy either. It took some serious work to find the Nurse Recruiting office number for some places. I utilized my school's career counselor for this. She helped a ton because she had access to contact information, that other people normally would not have. I stayed in contact with those recruiters and called them when I applied. I now have a job and am moving soon.

The biggest thing I am trying to tell you is literally do a ton of research on where you want to live and the opportunities available for you in that area. If you find a hospital you are really interested in, do so much researching you feel as though you may be stalking the company (lol). It all sounds like a lot but getting a job as a new nurse in an unfamiliar area can be hard.
