How to pass PN NCLEX

Published

Hello future and current nurses!! I just recently took my NCLEX PN and passed and wanted to share my experience with anyone who may need it.

So I graduated school in July and my school used ATI throughout my whole program. I didn't really like it just because I felt like it didn't really explain why the question was right or wrong. So a couple of weeks before I graduated we were required to take a comprehensive predictor to see what are chances were on passing NCLEX the first time. I took the predictor and my chances of passing the first time was a 38% :sorry:. I was so discouraged so I knew I had two months to study my butt off and basically teach myself things that I really didn't understand in school.

I took about a week off before graduation just to give my mind and body a break. After graduation I purchased UWORLD for 60 days. I was so focused and told myself that I would pass on the first time no matter what! I studied UWORLD intensively. Day in and day out. At first my scores were between 38% and 45% which made me want to study more. So I studied everyday. I would do 50-85 question a day, take notes, and READ the rationales. My average score at the beginning was a 42%. I still felt discouraged. So I decided to try something else for a while. I purchased LA Charity PDA and I must say it really helped me with prioritizing. I had 5 weeks before my exam and I was determined. I used anything I could to answer questions but mainly used UWORLD and also the 35 page notes I found on here (AMAZING).

Fast forward it was 1 week before my exam. I still felt unprepared. I was so tempted to reschedule. My overall score on UWORLD was a 46% and I thought no way I am prepared for this. So the days leading up I just answered questions and thought about all the answers and why it would be right or wrong. I could narrow the choices down to 2 selections and still would chose the wrong one. I just knew I wasn't prepared. But how could I not be prepared I studied for 2 months?? The next couple of days I just reviewed information that I already knew (labs, medications, ABG, ect.).

The day before all I did was review basic information. That night I prayed and told myself YOU GOT THIS GIRL!!!! I woke up the next morning had a wonderful breakfast full of protein and I said a prayer. I went into the test center very confident. I had to boost myself up. As soon as I checked in and sat down, I said another prayer and wrote Jasmine LPN on the board they provided. The first question popped up and I just answered to the best of my ability. My screen shut off at 162 questions and I was for sure I got the last question right.

I took a deep breath and waited to be escorted out. I had mixed emotions but overall I felt confident. I tried the PVT trick about an hour later and got the good pop up. The next day my name was on the BON with my licenses number and I screamed and praised the Lord.

Moral of the store don't get discouraged just because your scores are low and don't let a predictor discourage you. You will pass this test!!! Just be determined and confident in yourself and you will pass. Next stop RN!!!!!!

Good luck and congrats in advance !!!!
