How does one become an Aesthetics RN?

Published

I am currently a Chemotherapy Infusion Nurse, but want to make a career change. I'm very interested in Aesthetics Nursing, but haven't a clue as to how to get into the field. What type of training/education is needed? I live in Illinois, but am bordering Northwest Indiana. I hold nursing licenses in both IN and IL. Do Aesthetics Nurses work a full time schedule or is part time more common? Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

Being an aesthetic nurse myself I recommend you try to look for a job at a plastic surgeon's office or dermatologist office. I started by learning how to do laser hair removal and photo facials (in California you have to be an RN to do laser). Then I progressed onto doing botox and filler and chemical peels and microdermabrasion and micro needling. Try to familiarize yourself with popular aesthetic treatments and shadow nurses or doctors in this field if you can. Also attend botox or filler course.

Look up Botox/filler courses near you and most jobs are in medical spas, dermatologist offices and plastic surgeon offices. BOTOX ® training and Dermal Filler Training
