I am considering taking a job as a charge nurse in a new pediatric rehab hospital that is opening in my city. For the last 10 years I have worked at a pediatric hospital, so more acute care. I have just stepped down from a manager position to go back to the bedside in my current organization-the job and hours just weren't a good fit. The new job will require a 45 minute commute until October, as they have a facility in a nearby city. I'm not worried about liking the work, the organization has an amazing reputation and I had considered applying for the other facility in the past. My question is about giving up my 10 years of seniority-is it worth it? The pay and benefits will probably be about the same as I'm making now. Is there anything else I need to consider? I'm not completely unhappy in my current organization, but haven't been impressed with the administration lately. Any advice is welcome!

If you currently work at a non-union facility, your 10 years of seniority will mean absolutely nothing in the grander scheme of things. However, be mindful that the grass is not always greener on the other side. Good luck to you!
