How much of a difference do hospitals pay for in lieu of benefits? (Tampa Bay area)

Personally I would not reccomend it unless you have a spouse that has the benefits.
As an example a coworker who is young and healthy just fresh out of school chose the no benefit route worth about $4-5 hr at this facility. She found out about 2 months in that she is pregnent with triplets. Fortunately for her she is going to be forced to bedrest soon which will qualify her for the equivlent of Medicaid.
Some places dont even pay that much, in fact not here in FLorida but my last full time hospital required you to take the health insurance unless a spouse had it, and then only paid you $96 a month if you didnt.

In addition to needing a spouse with benefits to cover things like health insurance, etc., you need to be willing to go without any pay at all during any time you might be sick or injured. I've known people who regret giving up their sick time and vacation time -- who then broke a bone or something and needed to take 6-8 weeks off without pay.
It can be a good deal if you don't need the steady income and are lucky enough to stay healthy. But many people end up making less money in the long run because of the loss of sick time, vacation time, and retirement benefits even if they have insurance coverage through their spouse. Also remember, you are not only losing your employer's immediate retirement contribution ... you are losing what that money would have earned over the years invested in the retirement plan.)

At my new job in S. Central FL, it is 15%.
Actually, there is a mid-level for partial benefits and it's 15% if you take none (I don't remember which were included in the partial option).
Well, actually my husband is self employed. We have healthcare, but it's private Blue Cross through the Farm Bureau, so we pay for it out of our pockets. But we've been doing that for 7 years now, so we're used to it. Also, I've only worked part-time here and there for the last 15 years and I don't work at all now. So going without pay for unexpected reasons is a non-issue with me. I'm just wanting to know what my options are.

Just a what if.............
What if your husband can't work for some reason IE: illness, accident..........
Better to be double protected and have that extra security.
