I am thinking about becoming an LPN, how should I expect to make an hour as an LPN straight out of school? How hard is it to get a job after I graduate? I would like to work in a retirement facility or a mental institution/psych ward. Thanks

I'm in the Dayton area and it's horrible. The area is saturated with nurses. I work at a speciality office and make 17.00. I have been an LPN since 2011. I am seeking another job now and have submitted a million apps. I have heard LPNs making a little as 14.00 starting out. If you can I would look closer to Cinci. I would move in a second if all my family wasn't here. Good luck! ?

I'm in Ga and I recently graduated in August (2013), licensed in September. My first job was at $18.50/hr. I was just offered a new job starting at $19/hr. Both are with correctional facilities.
I did receive a job offer when I first started my job search at an urgent care but it was only $16.75/hr. That's too low IMO so I declined. It did take me almost two months of job searching to finally find a decent paying job. Don't get discouraged! It's not as bad as some would have you believe the LPN job market is.
