Tagged for a direct hire position as a APRN through local VA clinic here in town the end of May/beginning of June. Received TO on June 17th. Have done all the B.S. finger printing, EQIP, physical, VETPRO and credentialing is approved and I was boarded on Friday. Called HR yesterday morning. She says she is still waiting for credentialing to send over my packet to her (it is me and someone else who was boarded with me on Friday) and then she can give me my FO. My gosh what are they waiting for? I have already consented to a tentative start date of 30 August and my boss is currently advertising my position. I am becoming very nervous. How long in general does credentialing hold on to your packet after the board? Then she tells me after the FO I still have to be submitted to another nursing board. For God's sake. Does this nightmare ever end??
Just got my F.O. today. Phone call from HR and then email. Apparently the nursing board thing is the Professional Board they already sent my stuff to in the beginning when they gave me my T.O. I guess this is just a formality that they send it to them again for them to put a final rubber stamp on it I suppose? Anyway, my start date is 30 August. So for all of you who are wondering here was my timeline:
Call beginning of June asking if I would be interested in the position. Said yes and was asked to provide 2 references.
Few days later was told to hook up with NP in Gainesville who is in charge of all the NP recruitment. He told me to write up a very specific resume trying to address all the tenants of the levels and steps of nursing. Took them about 3 weeks to come back with a T.O. based on my experience which I accepted on 17 June.
After that reported to VA to get fingerprinted. July 22nd had PE done - had to drive to Lake City (an hour and a half away). This whole time working on the credentialing. VETPRO was done but the credentialing people took forever to verify everything. Then it went to the MEC last Friday and just got my FO today. So about 2 1/2 months but mine was expedited.
All and all not too bad. Just glad it is over and I can finally move on.
