Hi-
I was just wondering how home health nursing pays in NYC. Do nurses get paid per hour or per visit? Whats an avg pay per visit? How many visits do RNs do per day or week on avg? I wanted to do it PT but have no idea what to expect in terms of pay.
Thanks.

Talk to someone in home health. I worked for VNA in California and didn't get paid that well. But I really enjoyed it. It's a lot of wear and tear on the car, though, and depending on the weather it can be pretty unbearable. Where I worked, LVN's got paid by the visit and RN's by the hour, even though the LVN still had to do f/u calls to md offices re: labs, fill out the same wound care sheets, etc. which was time consuming. LVN's often got up to 8 pts.
I was comfortable seeing up to five patients a day, and they usually didin't give me more than six, but an admission counted as 2 patients because it involves so much more paperwork.
Having said all that, I did really enjoy my home health experience, as I was able to focus only on that one pt while I was with them. I left because of politics and weather.
