How many lecture hours does each school have on Psych and OB

Published

We have a 2-year program. The first year is fundmental, the second year is Med/surg, psych and OB. Second year is 3 hours a day, 2 days a week of lecture, and 16 weeks a semester. The first semester is psych lecture and Med/surg lecture and lecture hours ratio is about 1.5:1, the second semester is OB and med/surg, and lecture hour ratio is 1:1.

Is it necessary to spend so much time on Psych and OB lecture for an ADN program? We heard some school spend 1 month on each topic, that is 1 month on psych, 1 month on OB, 1 month on Endocrine, etc. What about your school?

One half of our fourth semester is devoted to OB/ reproduction. And, one half of our fifth (and last semester) is devoted to psych. We are a 5-semester, 21-month ADN program. We teach newborn (5 hours) during the summer for PEDS (3rd semester). Hope this helps :)
