How many hours should I study?

I realize you can say many answers like, "until you know the material". But if I'm trying to meet a minimum on studying (assuming I'll study everyday) what is the average amount you put into studying your nursing classes outside of class?

My school handbook says 1.5 hours out of class for every 1 hour in class. Should that number be higher for nursing school?

thanks for any/all replies,

ps- I'm trying to make a schedule for this first semester in nursing school and want to get a ballpark as to the number of hours I need to be studying each week.

my friend told me how long she studies depends on how many credits she is taking x2 so if she is taking 10 credits she should be studying 20 hours a week.

for me it depends lol i try to read or review 2-3 hours a day ( given it depends since i still work full time and some days im just too exhausted to even think after work) but a week before exams i kick it into high gear.. esp. the night before the exam lol

I haven't started my nursing classes yet so I've been wondering the same thing. I know in general college is suppose to be designed where you study for 2-3 hours for every hour in class, ( that's why 12-18 hours are full time, with studying 12 credits can become a 36 hour endeavor and with only 2hrs study /credit 18 hrs becomes full time). A study skills course I took told us to expect a minimum of 3/HR with Math, and science courses.

A friend who's an RN told me nursing school is very study intensive. The concepts aren't difficult it's just a lot of material.

I tried playing around with my schedule and I was able to "find" 23 hours a week max, hope it's enough! (I'll be taking 9 hours).
