Hi,
I have a BS in math/computer sci from a state university in Ohio. Plan on getting my ADN at a state community college and then work for a while. After that, what would be required to get a BSN?
Thanks!

The specific requirements would vary somewhat from school to school. Your best bet would be to talk to schools you're interested in.

Lisa,
I had/have a similar situation- going from a business degree to nursing. You definitely need to go to a few schools in your area and let them review your transcript and work out a plan with you.
I discovered that I had 2 semesters' worth of prerequisites that I would need for either an ADN or a BSN program in my area, because I lacked some of the BIO coursework. It turned out that the community college had a few prereqs (the CC required that some of the coursework be less than 2 years old) that the University did not require, and vice versa.
I ended up taking the prereqs at the community college and will be switching to the university in January to begin their BSN program - I will graduate with my BSN the same month/year that I would have graduated with an ADN from the CC.
If I had gone the ADN route (even though I already have a bachelor's degree) It would still take another year upon completion to obtain my BSN in a local RN to BSN program.
Hope this helps and best wishes!

I think it all depends on the school. I also have a business degree and looking to join either an ADN or BSN program where I can be done in 1 year. Unfortunately my GPA is too low to get into a nursing program in most of the schools. I am looking to go to a school in the carribean where they will except my GPA and I already have majority of my pre-reqs completed. I would go there just for 1 year to complete my clinical, come back to the US, take the NCLEX, get my RN, work full time and work on completing my BSN. A lot of hospitals around the country pay for you to complete your BSN. I have been told that after I finish my school in the carribean, I would have a guaranteed admission at CUNY Lehman where I can finish my BSN in 1.5 yrs. Thats because I also have a BS like yourself. It all depends on the school...I would say it would take up to 2 yrs at the most to finish your BSN. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
I entered a BSN completion program in the closest state uni as a diploma graduate with two years of college (from the first time around :)) and completed a BSN in two semesters of "full-time" study (I put quotes around it because "full-time" in the program = one day and one evening a week; I continued to work full-time throughout, as most everyone does in that kind of program).
Elpark - You are saying that you were able to obtain your BSN in 1 year? what do you mean by Diploma? And which uni is this? THanks :)

It depends on what you have already taken, and what classes are required for admission.
