Hi!!
How long will be the training of a nurse anesthetist?
If you're a foreign educated physician, will that have a slight advantage?
Thanks :kiss

It depends on your training and degree. Read the FAQ's at the beginning of the threads to get soem general ideas. Most CRNA programs are at least 27 months with only a week or 2 off during that entire 27 months, at least that is what it was for me. Good luck,

hmmmm,
Well most programs are 27 to 36 months in length. (as stated above)
Unfortunately for you, you do not currently have an RN. So you can add at minimum about two years to get an RN, assuming you can find a school that will accept your first degree, and admit you to their program. (Georgetown ..my current school.... has an accelerated BSN for people with bachelors degrees already, I was talking to someone today, about it, and it takes three semesters ...you need to check on that time frame...)
Then you can count on a year of required experience, during which you should get as many accredidations as you can (CCRN ..your MD will help here.... ACLS, PALS, TNCC and the like) Get good references and get into a program. It is very doable, and you could accomplish all of this in about five years.
Consider that if your MD is recognized here you could take the appropriate tests and obtain a residency in anesthesiology in aobut the same amount of time.
Good luck.
I am sure that if I have said anything wrong, someone will be along to correct me shortly.
Hi!
Thanks! I'm actually enrolled in a nursing program right now and hopefully by next year I'd graduate. In those 27 months of training, do I get paid?
Some of my classmates are anesthesiologists who have been practising for years (here in my country). Do they still have to train for 27 months?
No pay, and yup, there are no shortcuts.
