How long (length) should flare scrubs be worn?

Published

I have a job!!! I start monday with orientation and after a week I begin orienting on the med-surg floor. I'm so excited. I've been trying to buy uniforms. I found some flare scrubs by cherokee that I really like, but I only got one pair and they seem a little short? compared to the way I have seen them worn. The top of the flare just barely comes over the top of my shoe. I have seen worn where they come down to just above the sole of the shoe with a large flap of material on top of the shoe. What do you think?

I usually wear a long in jeans and the scrubs I bought are a regular (the store didn't have any longs).

Thanks Seren

I'd just watch how close they come to the floor. I've seen so many at work that wear them too long, and the cuff looks filthy-nasty.

In the normal boot cut pant world (and this is just my inner fashion diva talking) the hem of the back, should be about 1 inch from the floor with the shoes on. But, with scrubs, I would say that it is safe to have them come higher than that. And you don't want them touching the floor in the hospital anyways - eeewwww. But if they are too short, they look like floods. In any case, the hospital isn't a fashion runway so it doesn't matter. I'm sure they look great on you :)

Seren, I also wear a long pant. I have a pir of Dickies flare scrub pants, and they seem long enough when I am standing, but when I sit, they look like floods. I would recommend that the pants not touch the dirty hospital floor, but also don't look like floods either. in searching for "cute" scrubs, I have found that Dickies does make "long" flare scrub pants. Also, search for "UA" scrubs on the internet and have them send you a catalog. they have a few different brands in the catalog that are long flare, including their own brand. I hope that you can find some cute scrubs!!! Congrats. on your job!

thanx, you're right they do "flood" when I sit down. Ugggh, I think I should find something else to wear to orientation tomorrow. Thanks for the advice!
