How Long is a Illinois Nursing License Good For?

Published

Hi everyone! Hope you can answer a question for me...

I currently live in Texas but will be moving to Great Lakes, IL next month so I turned in all the paperwork for my IL license. I received a letter in the mail a few days ago saying that I can work temporarily as a RN while my paperwork is being processed. Today I just received, what looks like, my actual nursing license (certificate and cut-out card) but the license expires 5-31-08. The permanent license isn't even good for 5 months! I was expecting a nursing license with an expiration date 2 years from now. Is this typical? Thanks again for any help!

I found the answer so I'll answer my own question, lol. Just in case someone else may want an answer to the same question :) Illinois licenses expire on may 31st of each even year. I got my permanent license in less than a month...pretty fast! Only downside, its only good for a few months before I have to renew again!

getting a temp in 1 month is fast. illinois is normally very slow at issuing license...

Actually I got my PERMANENT license in less than 3 weeks! They signed for my application packet on Dec. 24, 2007 and I had my permanent license in my hand on January 10, 2008. After all the horror stories I've heard about it taking forever to get a IL license, I couldn't believe it!:w00t:
