How is the job market for nursing where you live?

Published

I'm asking because I was just accepted into nursing school and I start in the fall. It will be for a BSN. I'm nervous because I have been reading numerous posts about how tough it has been for new grads to find nursing jobs. Every now and then there will be a lucky few who get several offers, but for most, it's a struggle.

So I'm curious

1. how tough is it/ was it to find a nursing job?

2. what kind of nurse are you? (CNA, PCT, LPN, RN 2 yr, RN 4 yr, ect)

3. which state do you live in?

I'm from Minnesota.

Specializes in OB/NICU.

I'm an LVN in Tx. 5 yrs. experience. Never had a problem finding a job. I was just accepted into and LVN to ADN transition program and I plan to move into an RN position at the hospital I'm working at now upon graduation. We also have an extern program and so they always take students in their last semester for the externship. Those externs sign a 1 yr contract to stay with the hospital. I search the job market often out of curiosity. The 3 closest hospitals besides the one I'm working at always have positions posted. Even seen a few L&D internships this week. I will say though that reading all this kinda scares me. I was hesitant to sign a contract with the externship bc I didn't wanna be "tied down" to one spot but this is certainly making me reconsider.
