Well being on allnurses I come across many topics, that could be beneficial to pre nursing and nursing students or just a advisor board to those in the medical profession. However I noticed there is some judgement and assumptions with some members. This topic is non judgemental and so what I want to do is to allow us non nursing majors and graduates to share our story on what drove us to pursue nursing.
For me, its been a bit of a frustration. I at first after graduating with my associates decided to take a few public health courses, but I got drove into my major from a bit of pressure from professors and just the fact I could earn a degree and get a good job to pay for my education and have more options in applying to schools.
Obviously I didnt know what to do and many advisors are often standoffish when nursing studies are mentioned and now since ive been waiting around to apply after a bachelors degree and a few more extra courses I was waitlisted to the first college I've applied to and have to look for other programs and wait around. Nursing school is expensive too.
I see why some of these medical employees seem a bit off in their demeanor.
I've ended up working as a substitute teacher to earn a decent amount while I try to find my way. Its been an interesting journey to think about when my time will come while im presenting myself as something I haven't trained to be, in fact tried to avoid...but everything happens for a reason I believe.
So guys lets share our stories and provide comfort for those non nurse graduates who may be going through a journey getting their desire medical or nursing education.
Thanks, Good luck!
Also did the requirements or journey cause you to change your mind and choose another discipline in a medical or other field?í ½í¸‰â˜º
