Hello! I am a new grad interested in OR nursing.. I graduated in December and as of now have 5 months experience working in a trauma center ICU. I do not enjoy my job. I thought when I first started that I woud enjoy ICU but so far I do not. I think in general I do not like floor nursing. I enjoy helping people and helping them feel better but do not like the type of stress involved with floor nursing. I've been researching OR nursing and would like to give it a try. I have a couple questions for OR nurses out there? 1.) How do you become an OR nurse? What kind of experience? How would you recommend for me to get into OR nursing with my 5 months experience in ICU? 2.) Do you enjoy OR nursing? What do you dislike? 3.) What type of personality or what type of people go into OR nursing? thanks!

If you head on over to the OR forum (under the specialties tab), you'll find threads that answer most if not all of your questions. A lot of the answers to some will be facility dependent as far as expectations for applicants.
