Hello Everyone!

This is my first post.I am a 29 year old female from Montreal Quebec Canada

I was wondering what the truth is for acceptance into nursing school? What are the admissions dept really looking for?

I have completed my 1st pre-req & am registered in my second (Chemistry) along with 6 College Generals with very good grades.

Even though I have not finished my las pre-req..I have applied to every College here that had the nursing program, with a letter from my academic advisor starting that I plan to complete the final pre-req before this summer(2 months before the start of the semester)

Are there other factors that they concider?I have been told several people get accepted with their pre-reqs and just work on completing them while in the program. This confuses me....

What do I need to do to become a very competitive candidate?

I want this very badly and for the lat 2 years I have been taking courses & pre-reqs I hope it counts for something regarding concideration into the program.I don't want to waste time.I just want to get in lol

Thank you all in advance for any replies.

Have a good day!

Are you applying to RN or RPN? For RPN, many school have an entry exam and they take the highest marks. Science grades are really important; try and get those as high as you can. From what I hear, they do take people even if they haven't finished the classes on conditional acceptance.

Specializes in Surgical, OB, ER.

I have been accepted into the PN program conditionally. I just have to complete chemistry and biology by August. I am 1/3 of the way through chemistry and should finish by the middle of March. Biology should be done by the end of April. I am registered in both (online) but have chosen to concentrate on one at a time. (I also work full time at home and have two homeschooled kids at home in grades 12 and 10.)

So yes, you can get accepted! I did have to write the HOAE which all PN applicants in ON have to write.

Good luck!

Kimberley
