I start nursing school for Jeff State Fall 2007..I've heard people say .. " It's extremely Hard".. "It's hard!"...." Just a lot of reading".." No what I expecting!" ( not necessarily saying it's hard).... I want to know how is it really. I would assume just like any other subject that certain info may come easier than others. I've taken all my pre-req's except for one and that will be taken in a couple of semesters along with one nursing course.. Does having others courses play a factor...depends on the person.. are there any helpful websites.. I'm don't remember the exact test there were referring to... But there is a class we have to take, even if i make an A or B in the class. We have to pass the test with a 90... This freaks me out....That's more pressure than passing the class itself... Any tips

I didn't go to Jeff State, but I think regardless of where you go some people will find it difficult and others may not. I think you will find that everyone has very different opinions. Good luck to you. If you want it, you'll make it :)

Hey Indieflower,
I have several friends who are in the summer program. I have gotten alot of info from them. And to answer your question..Yes its hard but doable. From what they say its a different study then our pre req were. The tests are crital thinking type questions not memorization like we used in A & P and Micro. The test you are referring to is the Math test and you do have to make a 90 to pass. you can only miss 3 questions. But you can fail one test and still be ok. If you make 3 A's ( the 90's ) then you dont have to take the final. My friend made 100 on all 3 tests so she was exempt from the final. She also said that every semester she will have to take the test and make a 90 to pass at the start of each semester. This is because of clinicals and dosing meds is very important..can be life threating if you dont do the math right.
Make friends in your class and start a study group! And relax..you can do it!!
Best of Luck !!
Thanks for the info... When I went to orientation they did state that the summer term was stressful because the did have to squeeze all the information in a smaller amount of time.. So maybe it won't be as hard as the summer. That Math kind of freaks me out a little even though I enjoy math sometimes.. It's just the pressure regarding the test.. But I am praying to do my best.. And I hope, personally, that the information comes easier than what I expect.
The Math is suppose to be basic Math. Not like Algebra. But I understand how you feel. I havent had a Math class in 15 years so Im nervous about it to.
Personally I would not have wanted to start in the summer. I took Micro last summer and that about did me in. The thought of 3 classes in the summer wasnt for me. We have a great resource with this board so I think we will be ok.
