How do you go about getting letters of recommendation when your under contract?

I recently applied for the April NTP board and was not selected but my recruiter said I could definately apply for the fully qualified boards once I get my 6 months experience. I was just wondering how others go about getting the letters of recommendation from those at your work, when under a two year commitment? I don't really want to ask my direct supervisors because that would likely leave a bad impression, but I may ask some NPs or PAs whom I work closely with.

My recruiter said that by the time we go through the whole application process again, my commitment would probably be coming to the two year mark.

Just wondered how others under a commitment got their recommendation letters to proceed with their Air Force application.

Not too sure about the AF, but here in the Navy Reserve, if you have fears about speaking with your current employer, you can just write a "hand-written-statement" discussing why you do not want your current employer to know and the recruiter should be good with that. You should then be advised to get a reference from someone that works with you at that place of employment to cover your employer reference. Of course it will not carry as much weight unless the reference is from someone of authority. Have you expressed your concern w/ your recruiter? I am usure if this is an option with Active duty AF, but it is a shot. Hope that helps.
