Army Reserve OBLC (April 2013)
Sure sounds great! I looked at my itinerary, and looks like I land at 11:16. Have you received anything in the mail indicating specifics about what we're to bring? All I've gotten were my orders. Also, do you know what the standard procedure is for flying regarding do we wear civilian clothes or our uniform?

Army Reserve OBLC (April 2013)
I can't remember specifically when I land, but I leave Atlanta around 915am, so I should be arriving around lunchtime. There is another LT from my unit who's coming as well but hasn't got his flight info yet

Army Reserve OBLC (April 2013)
I commissioned Dec 2011; finished phase 1 last June in 2012 and have been waiting for a spot for phase 2 ever since. So happy to finally get BOLC accomplished. I'll be coming from Georgia.

Army Reserve OBLC (April 2013)
I contacted the training sgt of my unit and she said to follow the directions on the orders. So I guess I'll try and set up my travel with the goverment credit card and DTS. Then I guess we call the billeting at Fort Sam to reserve a room for the days we are not out in the field. Guess I have a lot to do cause I go on vacation in 2 weeks and get back 1 to 2 days before the report date. How long have you been in the reserves Need4Speed (Nick)? Where are you coming from? Looking forward to meeting everyone. Meredith

Looking for Info on 2012 Reserve BOLC Experience!!!
Hey, Scottlin I'd like to hear how your drilling has been going as well. I haven't started drilling yet but hopfully will in March. Also, Scottlin, how did you register to start on the online course work? I'm eager to go to BOLC as well, and am hoping it will happen before the end of the year.

"Are you serious?!"
Congratulations sa[RN]ah! I was in the same situation as you. I had applied for the new grad program with the Air Force and wasn't selected. Then, I planned on going Army just to find out the new requirements were a min of 2 years. I was selected for army reserve and was sworn in on Dec 7, and am now awaiting orders. When I get my experience up, I hope to try for active duty as well.

Army Direct Commission FY12
What I really want is to go Active Duty, but since they changed the minimum requirement to 2 years experience, I decided to apply for Reserves and then once I get a few more years experience try for Active Duty. Its kind of a drag that I'd have to do the whole application process over again to go Active duty, but I'm so willing to do it to reach my goal.

Army Direct Commission FY12
So, New1LT, did you get into the Reserves and then apply for Active Duty?

Army Direct Commission FY12
I'm applying for the reserves. My recruiter said my packet was going for an Oct 4th board and that he would have the results around one week later. He also said that I probably wouldn't be able to go to BOLC for about a year. I was wondering, how do I start drilling with my reserve unit when I haven't had any sort of introductory course to the military customes and procedures?

ANC FY2012
I know exactly how you feel. I'm in the same situation. I've only been working as an RN since March and was working on my packet for the Army as well. I really want to be Active Duty but now I'm really thinking about doing Reserve and hopefully switching to Active duty in the future. I just don't know how different the process is for going in the Reserve. Its all so frustrating but I'm going to keep working at it. Good luck to you.

LOR for Army
I am a new nurse and have been working for a little over three months. I am very concerned on how to get Letters of Recommendation for my Army application packet. I don't want to mess up my current job just because I want to go into the Army, which we all know there is no garantee at getting in. How have others gone about getting their LOR without getting themselves fired from their current employer? I just feel asking a LOR from your current employer is so risky, especially since I've only been employed a few months. Any insite would be greatly appreciated.

How do you go about getting letters of recommendation when your under contract?
I recently applied for the April NTP board and was not selected but my recruiter said I could definately apply for the fully qualified boards once I get my 6 months experience. I was just wondering how others go about getting the letters of recommendation from those at your work, when under a two year commitment? I don't really want to ask my direct supervisors because that would likely leave a bad impression, but I may ask some NPs or PAs whom I work closely with. My recruiter said that by the time we go through the whole application process again, my commitment would probably be coming to the two year mark. Just wondered how others under a commitment got their recommendation letters to proceed with their Air Force application.

Does an alternate list apply to new grads applying for the Air Force?
I've seen talk concerning experienced nurses being placed on an alternate list, in which they have to wait for an opening to get into the Air Force. I was wondering if new grad nurses may potentially be placed in an alternate list? Also, does anyone know how many new grads the Air Force is looking to take for this spring board?
