I agree with the previous post. I got my part time online teaching position because I knew people at the school through my full time hospital job. The faculty knew me because of my hospital job. I wasn't "just another unknown applicant." I have friends who got started the same way -- and by teaching a clinical group or two. That got their feet in the door.

The best way to get a foot in the door is via an adjunct clinical instructor gig. EVERYONE wants online for obvious reasons- filling the CI role gets you on the payroll. You have to work your way up. You might also look to online schools and teach something you are qualified for OTHER than nursing courses.
