How to get into teaching?

Hello everyone! I finished my DNP/FNP in December of 2015. Since then, I've been getting settled into my new CRNP job in a busy ER but now I'm ready to get into teaching! I've always wanted to teach and I did a decent amount of TA work in grad school- now I'm just not sure how to get a teaching job. I am interested in a part time adjunct position, preferably teaching an online course. I've applied to a bunch of places but I haven't heard anything, although its only been a month. Anyone have any tips or tricks?

    The best way to get a foot in the door is via an adjunct clinical instructor gig. EVERYONE wants online for obvious reasons- filling the CI role gets you on the payroll. You have to work your way up. You might also look to online schools and teach something you are qualified for OTHER than nursing courses.

    I agree with the previous post. I got my part time online teaching position because I knew people at the school through my full time hospital job. The faculty knew me because of my hospital job. I wasn't "just another unknown applicant." I have friends who got started the same way -- and by teaching a clinical group or two. That got their feet in the door.
