How to get an RN job in HOUSTON

Sorry you're having such a hassle. It's so hard to understand why you aren't getting a ton of call-backs.

Personally, I blame the "automated" HR systems. From personal experience, I know that HR personnel are not the most tech-savvy & the people who are supposed to sort through applications are usually some of the lowest level staff. Productivity is sometimes measured by how quickly they process the apps - so .... if there are too many, it is their best interest to simply trash some of them. The key to success here is to get in touch with a real human being!!! If it's any comfort, this is an across the board problem -- not limited to nursing.

There is a Houston career fair coming up shortly in the Med center on

Sept 30. Here is the link for more info http://events.nursingspectrum.com/event.cfm?EID=635 If you can attend, you will be able to hook up with nurse recruiters in the area.

Good Luck -- Glad you're coming to H-town!!!!

hi everyone,

I graduated from a Nursing school in Houston in May 2004. Worked in the Medical Center for 2 years. :chuckleNow working in Austin as a PRN Nurse. I have applied online for jobs in the Medical Center in Houston.:D I don't know anyone is the Medical Center now. I have not heard from any recruiter for an interview. What can i do?:loveya: I am getting very sad. Thanks for your help. I would love to work at Texas Children Hospital.:wink2: I did my clinicals there.:yeah:

I wish I could help you right now, but I think that in part it depends on who you know, unfortunately. I'm praying for just an interview to this one place and am getting nada. Finally I got a name of an employee and included that on my app., so let's see what happens.

So if you find any other things that work out, let me know.

However, what I can tell you is that you can have my job if I ever get that call for an interview (because I'm certain I'd get the job).
