I've got some friends who are interested in becoming RNs. I've told them about how I got into it, but would love to hear some stories from others, in case there are other pathways that resonate better with them.

My first love was being a paramedic/first responder. But, after a decade or so of being an EMT-P I got tired of carrying my share of 300lbs of humanity backwards down a staircase at 0230AM for (at the time) $11.00 an hour. Have the knee replacement and back trouble to back that sentiment up.
Did a one year bridge program EMT-P to RN, and while I miss the adrenaline sometimes overall I'm glad I made that leap.
