How to get through HR

Published

Hey everyone! I'm a new grad RN with past healthcare experience as a CNA and LPN. I would've thought I wouldn't have had a problem getting a call back or interview as a new grad and I haven't gotten one! I recently talked to an HR nursing recruiter (the only way I got to him was to name dropping a managers name) about why my applications were not even being considered bc I had more experience then just the everyday new grad...He said the only thing they were looking for was hospital experience (which I do have, just not RN...) This was crazy to me because I knew from a source that the manager was willing to take new grads!! My question to everyone is, did anyone else run into this problem? And for those of you that did, and now how jobs - how did you do it? I've tried writing messages about my healthcare experience, how I would love to be a part of a hospital that specializes in blahhh blahh... and I got nothing!! I know networking is everything and its all in who you know - but I'm in a brand new city (Philly) and barely know anyone! Also why dont the nursing recruiters know what those managers are looking for?? I need advice and a job, someone HELP!!
