Hi! My name's jen. I've been an RN for almost 2 years. In December I was let go of my job at a corrections medical center because i was staffed through a temp agency and my job was sold to the lowest bidder. Since then I have been on unemployment and looking for work in the Columbus, Ohio are, mainly at hospitals. I have probably put in over a 100 applications. I have my ACLS, BLS, although I only have my associates not my bachelors. I've been out of work FOUR months and am at my wits end. I started out as a new grad at a temp agency as a new RN because I couldn't get a job anywhere else. (Not the best idea, but i was lucky, cause there was an awesome staff looking to teach) I'm a hard worker. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I need a job, I need the money, my benefits are about to run out. Does anybody have any tips??? I'd really appreciate it. I am at a low point right now and don't know where to turn. The hospitals want you to have hospital experience, but how do you get it if you can't get hired by one? I am afraid to I'll have to go to travel nursing and I don't feel ready. But what else can one do?:banghead:

that's what might have to happen. It's just hard, because my husband is in AFROTC at OSU,,,So it would mean a wicked separation. But thats why I thought about looking at travel nursing.

Have you tried Mt. Carmel hospital? They have some staff RN positions listed on their job website and the positions don't mention anything about experience. They just say you need a nursing degree and RN license. I would just keep trying and not give up. Good luck.

I am a new graduate that has moved to Columbus from Iowa before I knew there was this problem of getting hired in this area, so I feel your pain. I have applied for every job at every hospital that would be appropriate for a new BSN/RN and have had no luck and not a single call from an HR person. I am also at my wits end and don't know what to do. I moved out here to be with my fiancee when he got his job out here but I think I should have researched this area a little harder. I thought there are a ton of hospitals, I should have no problem. However, quite the opposite is taking place. I don't know what else to do to get myself noticed above RN's that have experience.:(

I know this is an older post but Dublin Methodist is short staffed on one unit for sure, and they're looking for RNs.

This is an older post & I checked on your profile to see if you have been on lately, and it has been over a couple of months. Do you still want answers to the questions you posted?
