How to get accepted into nursing school

Published

I am in the process of submitting my applications for nursing school to a couple of different colleges. My GPA is 3.8 and I know I need to have strong references. How do I make my essay of why I want to be a nurse and why I want a certain college stand out from the rest? Any suggestions besides the typical answers?

This isn't medical school so try not to stress over it. Your GPA is good so just be honest in your essay and you will be fine.

It's evident from looking at my class that my school values folks with diverse life experiences. So, the best advice I can give regarding a nursing school application essay (other than make sure you answer all their questions) is to try to let you shine through it. If you're writing it at home (some programs require a proctored essay) show it to the folks in your life who know you best and ask if it "sounds" like you. The more genuine the voice of your essay is, the more the admissions committee gets to see the real you.

High GPA, do well on your entrance exam if you have to take one, great letters of recommendation, and previous healthcare experience is a plus.
