How do you feel about advocates on wards?

Published

As an advocate and a potential nurse I am curious to know how nurses feel about voluntary advocates?

Do you feel advocates are needed for clients?

Has an advocate ever made things difficult for you with regards to a client/patient?

Have you met any advocates for the particular area you were trained in ie adult, mental, learning disabilities.

Would you as a nurse approach an voluntary advocate if you had a question with regards to a client/patient.

I look forward to any thoughts

Thanks

Have never seen an advocate on our surgical wards and to be honest I get to know my patients very well both pre and post operatively so if I had a question I would ask my patient or if they were unable to answer their relies. I suppose it may be different for mental health but this is not an area I have worked in as a qualified nurse so cant comment.

SO i guess in answer to your question no I would not use an advocate.

Thanks for your thoughs mabel i was just curious
