I'm in my 3rd semester. My clinical instructor said I'm still very much in my 2nd. He said he wants to see more organization and time management, and also how to think more critically.
Can someone please give some tips on how to improve in those areas?
Thanks in advance.

Do you use any sort of flow sheet for your day? I use a piece of paper and have a little square for each hour I am there. I write down the procedures and meds in the appropriate time slot so I can quickly glance at my paper and know at 1800 I have X meds, etc. It is helpful to know when you are going to be really busy or when you can fit other tasks in.
I do, I have my own cheat sheet that I created, which I started using this semester. It did really help me.

The big rule..."If it isn't written, it isn't done."
I've been trying to chart as soon as I come out of the pt's room, that way I don't forget things I did throughout the day. I'll bet you have been doing more than you or your instructor realize, because you didn't make it that far without being able to think about this stuff. Sometimes it takes me a minute to realize what nsg interventions I did when I was with the pt.
Hope that helps
