I am currently a school nurse in the state of NC. I have recently been offered a job with my local VA doing case management. I am very undecided. I love the schedule of my job with the school but recent budget cuts have worried me and made our assignments more spread out. The job at the VA is still a M-F job 8-4:30 and pays alot more and still has awesome benefits but it is hard to walk away from the schools, because as a mom the schedule is great to be with my kids. Any advise out there would be great if you have ever been in those situation or have any knowledge of being a working mom at a VA center

It seems clear to me. What are you more interested in, job security or a nice schedule? With these two choices, it seems like you can't have both. Unless you can find a job that has both job security and a flexible schedule, then, you need to decide which is more important to you. Good luck.
Thanks, the decision is tough because we have young kids. If they were not in the mix, I would take the VA job in a heartbeat!
