How to convert fraction to inches when doing heights, need your help?

For example 3 3/8 ft would equal to what if it had it be convert into a decimal(inches)?

Is this correct: would 3 1 1/8 = 37.8 or is this incorrect?

I'm a little confused by your question. Are you trying to convert 3-3/8 feet into inches with a decimal point instead of a fraction ?

3 ft = 36 inches 3/8 feet = .375 total 36.375 inches.

There is 12 inches in 1 foot, so 3ft x 12 in=36 inches, then 3/8 ft x 12 in=4.5 inches. Your answer would be 36 + 4.5=40.5 inches. I hope this helps. Or you can just do 3 3/8 ft x 12 in=40.5 inches

Please correct me if I'm wrong or missunderstanding your question. This is how I do it:

1 ft = 12 inches, 12 divided by 8= 1.5 inches. 3/8th of a foot would be 3 times 1.5 inches= 4.5 inches.

3 ft= 36 inches

3/8 = 4.5 inches

40.5 inches

You guys are right. 3/8 foot is 4.5 inches

3/8 x 12 = 4.5

I was taking 3/8 inches and converting to a decimal.

40.5 inches
