How can I transfer a 3 year nursing school into an associate degree in nursing?

Published

Hello,

I tried to study Bachelor's of Science in Nursing in the Philippines (4 year degree) but I was only able to do 3 years of it and didn't graduate for some reasons. I am currently in California, USA. Is there anyway to transfer those 3 years into an associate degree in California? Or do I have to go back to school and get an associate degree from an accredited school? Thank you.

As of my last update in January 2022, California does accept nursing degrees from the Philippines, but there are specific requirements that individuals must meet to become licensed as a nurse in the state. These requirements typically include passing the NCLEX-RN exam and meeting additional educational and/or clinical practice requirements set by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).

This is very helpful. Thank you!

CA BON requires one to "have completed" = graduating from a nursing program.

Set up a meeting at a California community college to review your previous education credentials to see if they would be accepted by the college. Many schools require a minimum # (varies) to be taken at that school.
