How can I start over in nursing after a serious accident left me disabled?

Published

In 2008 I graduated from nursing school and started my nursing career in the operating room (OR). Orientation for the OR and the endoscopy department took over a year and I was just starting to get comfortable in my new job when I was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident in 2010 which left me with head injuries and physical limitations. I have not worked since the accident due to these injuries. Unfortunately, my memories for the years prior to the accident are now very fuzzy and I was left with little nursing knowledge. I also have issues with concentration and understanding in depth concepts. Although I was told that my injuries will take years to heal, I do want and hope to return to nursing in some capacity at some point.

My question is this...how would you recommend I start studying/reviewing etc?

I know this will take a very long time, but I really am hoping that I get to return to nursing, which I love. Any comments, recommendations, tips etc would be VERY appreciated.

Seek out a refresher course. And, Congrats on getting back on your feet!!

Thanks for the advice elprup. I plan on going through a refresher course when I am able. However, at this point, I am nowhere near the point where I can physically or mentally withstand a course like that. I was hoping someone had some tips/websites that review etc. that might very slowly allow me to start relearning the massive amounts of information that I need to know in order to return to the nursing field.
