I am a staff RN and would like to present an inservice for some of my coworkers. I was wondering, does anyone know how I would go about applying for CEU credit to give to the people who attend my inservice? Do I have to contact our board of nursing directly or do I need to speak with the education department at my hospital? I just don't know where to go and unfortunately my department's administration is practically worthless in such matters...never getting back to us when we have questions, especially ones like this one.:trout:
Thanks in advance for any infomation you can offer!

You will probably have to go through the education department. In each facility that gives out CEU's there is a person who is responsible for the records for the CEU's - I am the CEU person at our school.
To present a CEU you will need to turn in objectives, and an outline of the material with references. And a lot of other data in regards to the workshop.
Instead of the education department being upset they should be grateful that someone has the iniative to want to be a presenter. Good luck to you and if you need any help just let me know!

I am not exactly sure the process to go about, but this question has been posed in my unit before. Our nurse educator has discouraged staff from attempting this due to the long process it takes to obtain this privilege. Last summer my unit switched from an ED to a transfer unit that accepts everything from critical care to plain old med-surge. We had TONS of classes to attend to get everyone ready for this change, and we were unable to get CEU's for these classes, because of how hard it is to get that privilege. Good luck on your adventure!
