How can I increase my chances of getting a job as an ob/gyn nurse?

Hello! I am new to this website. I have come because I am seeking advice on how to "look good" so when I finish nursing school, I can increase my chances of becoming an ob/gyn nurse. I am starting nursing school in the fall, and I was wondering if I would be able to do internships during the summer? And should I volunteer?

Basically, what type of opportunities should I take on to help increase my chances?

I feel like if after I finish my nursing degree, if I just jump into wherever they'll take me, I won't ever be able to get to the ob/gyn floor.

So advice would be greatly appreciated. :) Thanks all

Best case scenario, you could get a job as a CNA on an OBGYN floor. If the manager/staff like you, once you graduate you could have a position waiting for you. Second best case, get a CNA job anywhere and it could give you the 1 up on a student without CNA experience...

If your program includes a Capstone, take it!! All hiring managers love new grads who've had significant clinical experience, no matter in which specialty. It means your clinical skills are sharp and that you can handle 12hr shifts. Aside from that, internships during your school breaks are your best option.
