How to become CNA/clinical tech in florida

Published

Hi, I start nursing school in January but I can't wait for a job. How do I become a clinical tech or CNA. I've heard of people taking 2 day courses? I'm based out of Orlando Florida. Thanks

Gabriel Health in Orlando. They do one week morning or night class, or Saturday & Sunday class. They are very nice & will help you fill out the Prometric application too!!

Well getting CNA license does not actually mean you will get a job. Florida is pretty saturated with CNA's. You have the option of doing self study and just challenging the exam in Florida. Facts are on the website below. Go to the prometric website to see the skills CNA are tested on.Lots of websites has training videos including allnurses.com just do a search. Please note you will complete CNA requirements after the 1st semester of nursing school, so you might be wasting money doing a CNA program.

The saturation concerns me. I'd imagine it is saturated with people needing a job, etc. However, it does concern me. I found a good program locally. I'm just worried about being able to find a job. The training is obviously short, and there is burnout, people move onto other jobs, school. In an already saturated market, would it still be possible, even if having to wait several months, to obtain employment as a CNA?

sure you can find a job. it takes determination, might take over a year to find someone willing to give you a chance because they all want 1 year experience even LTC facilities. So you have to get through the "how will I get experience if noone will hire me phase". CNA jobs are generally high turnover. Not necessarily because they want to leave, but because of bad management and severe under-staffing.

I don't know if this counts but I've been taking care of two elderly couples in a caregiver position that are my neighbors. I wonder if I could branch off as a rehab/restorative aid in an OT/PT department because there is also a program for that in the area, once I can try and get experience as a CNA.

Thanks for your response.
