I guess it's advisable to send a thank you letter via email. cos if u send by a snail mail, the interviewer might have already made a decision by the time he/she receives ur mail. Normally I ask my interviewer email address at the end of it and send thank you mail as soon as i got home, starting with Dear (their last name).. hope it might help u
That's a great point, poopyhead, and I normally do like to use email for that very reason. Unfortunately, I spaced on getting an email address (usu. I just get a business card). There isn't an email directory online that I can find either. If I get it to the post office in the next couple of hrs it should arrive at the hospital tomorrow, hopefully it'd make it to the right person before a final decision is made.
I never talked to HR, the person who interviewed me called to set up the interview. That's not a bad idea though.
I'm somewhat tempted to start calling people I know who have different jobs in the same large health system to see if there isn't some sort of directory that they can look him up in, but I haven't talked to any of 'em in a long while and I have a feeling that them getting back to me then getting into work to check would take just as long as it'll take for this to make it via snail mail.
As a former manager I was always impressed by the applicant that took the time to follow up the interview with a note. It demonstrates real interest in the job.
You should send a thank you note to the manager or director of the unit who did your interview within a week of your interview. In that note you should state the following:
Dear Mr/ Ms___________
Thank you for taking the time to meet with me. I was very impressed by your organization and feel that I would be a good fit for your facility. I was very impressed by (something that you liked about the unit). (If you had a group interview or met with staff, state that you enjoyed meeting them).
I am (list your positives here.. this is a time to reinforce your positive attributes).
Again, thank you very much for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
This note should be on some type of professional note card not something cute. It should be hand written. If you have a business card (I recommend that everyone have professional business cards made up with their name, title, address, phone number and email address ) included on the card.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

If I want to send a handwritten thank you note after an interview how do I address it?
Do I do it like this:
Happy Hospital Emergency Dept.
12345 Fake St.
Anytown, WA, 99999
Attn: (name of interviewer, title)
I saw quite a few threads about thank-you notes when I searched, but nothing regarding how to address them. Thanks for any help.
