Nursing homes, LTAC's, clinics, and home health agencies are your best bet unless you know someone. It is my understanding that hospitals in the greater houston area are steering away from LVNs......
My first LVN job was in a dialysis clinic, and once i gained some confidence and skill, I worked for a home health agency for almost 2 years.
Good luck.
Do you know what agencies will hire new grads?
agencies dont usually hire new grads and if you do get an agency like ultra staffing, i would steer away from them, most places "hate" agency nurses 1) because they get paid more, avg 26-28 LVN, 32-40 RN, 2) there is no training, they assume what you learnt in school is good in the real world, a real stupid misconception, you dont learn nothing in school.
apply to docors offices, nursing homes, harris county clinics, they offer good training and start you soft as a new grad. you worked so hard for your licence, dont loose it because you are greedy to 3 or 4 extra dollars an hr.
