Houston HCA staRN summer 2017

Published

Just wanted to start a form for the residency for any HCA hospital in the Houston area/outskirts since we may start hearing stuff soon.

I interviewed at the Woman's for L&D and Mother/Baby. I heard back from L&D and accepted the offer on Thursday. I never have heard anything from Mother/Baby. Goodluck to y'all and I hope y'all hear something this week!

Congratulations! That's awesome! I'm sure you'll love it

I hope to hear something this week, but I'm starting to doubt it'll be good news. Just trying to stay positive but it's hard.

Well, I finally managed to get a hold of someone and was told all offers were extended as of last week Friday just in case anyone is in the dark. Nothing for me unfortunately. Pretty disappointed.

Congrats to those who got offers though. Good luck to everyone else. On to the next one.

I had a 2nd interview and received an offer last week for West Houston!!!

I ended up getting offered a position in Mother/Baby at Woman's a couple of weeks ago that I accepted. :)

Hey! Did you accept the position with Kingwood? Also what department will you be in? I am starting the program Monday for L&D.

I got an offer like last week for kingwood. From talking to the recruiter I honestly think they're done making phone offers.

Yes I did! I start July 10 in postpartum. Good luck! Let me know how it goes if you can

Does anyone have any insight into the interview process? I've practiced interview questions & I just get scared, lol. I'm interviewing for a medsurg-oncology position & I'm excited! The recruiter let me know they'd want me to know new grad level questions so I'm hoping not TOO much pharm, lol.

if you start the program and decide you don't want to continue what do they penalize? like i understand its a 10k contract and the 2 year commitment starts after orientation. But what if i decide to leave while in orientation? How much would I owe?

I can't say I'm 100% sure but I think it's still the 10K.

Can anyone who is in the StaRN program tell me what the pay increases to after the first year? And do you still recommend HCA for a new grad? Thanks!

There isn't a set pay raise for my floor at least, I've asked other coworkers and they said they've gotten 40-80 cent raises. Honestly, I HATED it at first. It's getting better but I wouldn't suggest it but it may depend on what floor you work on. We've had 4 people quit in the past 4 months, all of them went to Methodist or Herman.
