Houston/Gulf Coast HCA StaRN Program Fall 2018

Hey everyone,

Starting a thread for anyone who has applied for HCA's StaRN New Graduate Nurse Residency Program for any of the upcoming cohorts in the Gulf Coast Division. I'm curious as to when they will start contacting applicants for interviews if they haven't already. I've been told they contact applicants in the order of which they have applied. Please feel free to share any information regarding the residency program, application status, etc. I'm having a hard time landing my first job as an RN in the Houston area, and I need someone to vent to who is as anxious to hear back as I am. The recruiter called me the evening of the interview and let me know I was no longer being considered. However she got me in touch with my second choice hospital and now I have an interview with them this Friday.

Good luck on friday. Im still waiting to hear back

I was offered a position at West Houston location earlier this week.

They called me in for a peer interview a few days after an initial one with the manager. And then the next day after the peer interview I was offered the position. I am pretty sure that it would be different at another facility though.

Make sure to practice all the general questions, like the reasons you want to be a nurse, and others of that sort. They did not ask anything too tricky. Make sure to think of specific examples of care you provided during your clinicals. Good luck!
