Houston Community College ADN Spring 2011 Hopefuls

Published

Hi,

I have been looking for some information on Spring admission at HCC for the spring of 2011. Did anyone apply or has anyone received an acceptance letter? I took pharm in the summer but I was unable to attend the week long orientation at HCC. I am hoping to start in the spring but I am just wondering if anyone has been accepted already.

Thanks for any info!

Can you tell me what the math test is over? Is it basic math or is dosage math? Do I have to take the hesi before the math test. Thanks again for the info. So nice of you:)

No, I didn't have to wait. I took pharm last Fall and started the program this Spring. I'm starting my second semester in two weeks. Its a lot to learn, but if you stay on top of the game, you will succeed.

Hi there,

I am applying for Spring 2012 and I am a little bit confused. I received a letter yesterday saying that I was selected to tahe Pharm. I have two questions maybe you can help me.

1- Does the letter mean I was selected into the program?

2- Am I going to start the program in Spring 2012 if I pass Pharm?

Thank you and good luck to you!!!

Sybille 30,

I stumbled upon this thread and thought I'd chime in. I'm hoping I can get an answer on the Pharm class. I was recently approved to take the Pharm class this fall and I was wondering if it is necessary to purchase both textbooks "NEW". I would much rather purchase them used, however I wondered if the professors are going to use the online component of the book (ie. access codes that are given to you when you buy a new book). Can you please HELP??? I really want to buy these books used.

Thanks.

Yes. If you pass the math test with a 90% or higher and pass Pharm with at least a C, you are in the program.

About your Pharmacology books, if you are using the same books as I did, you'll need to purchase used or new: Pharmacology Connections to Nursing Practice by last names, Adams and Koch. You also need the book: Calculate with Confidence by Deborah Gary Morris (I have the used, 5th edition). IMPORTANT; for the book: Pharmacology Connections to Nursing Practice, you WILL NEED YOUR ACCESS CODE! Your teacher will assign you a LOT of busy homework to complete using "MyNursingLabs" by the book's web site listed here: http://pegasus2.pearsoned.com/Pegasus/frmLogin.aspx?s=3

If you buy a used textbook, you WILL have to purchase a new access code. Be prepared to spend money; it's not cheap. I don't remember how much it was, but I do remember I thought it was extremely overpriced.

I am applying to the LVN program and I can't really find any threads on it! Are you guys all applying for the ADN? Also, this is sort of crazy but after I turned in all my paperwork the lady told me to wait 2 weeks and my letter for my interview will come in the mail... has anyone else gotten this response before? I'm trying not to think too much into it incase the letter says no but how can I not hahaha. Should I start preparing for an interview now!??
