Hey all! Am currently compiling information in preparation for persuing nursing as a second degree. I have been an accountant for 10 years and currently have the best job in the world of being stay-at-home dad to my two wonderful daughters.
For several (many) years, I have felt that nursing was a calling of mine and I am finally getting to the point where I can finish up pre-reqs and go after this dream.
I live in the greater Houston area and am trying to find out people's perceptions and thoughts about a few of the ADN programs in the area...most specifically Alvin Community College, Houston Community College and San Jacinto College.
I have had the most difficulty in getting information about the program at Alvin Community College.
Has anyone here attended (or currently attending) any of these three programs in the last few years that can give me their insight.
Many thanks!

Hello rwingen,
Congratulations on your new endeavor! I was a stay-at-home mom for many years before jumping back into college. I have heard negative and positive about each and every school in the greater Houston area. The general consensus it that school is what you make of it. It can take alot of research, e-mails and phone calls to make decisions about your education.
If you already have a Bachelors degree, you may want to investigate the accelerated BSN program. It is an intense one-year fast track into nursing. It is available ONLY to students currently holding a four-year degree. I know that UT-Houston and UTMB offer that degree.
No matter what path you choose, you will need to complete some prerequisite classes. These classes vary from school to school, so you will need to go to each school's web site.
Good luck to you!
