I am looking into starting to travel, limited that is, as in just in my own state. Anywho, I guess I am really puzzled as to how the housing,meals etc stipend plays into the hourly or weekly pay. Soo its used obviously to pay your housing :) and then if there is leftover it remains in your pocket? Or?? I am seeing many posts that say for instance a base pay of $30 an hour and then additional housing etc
Could someone please, if they have the patience lol, try and make this more clear to me. Thanks!

Try PanTravelers for many articles about traveling. If you have a tax home, and take the housing stipend rather than provided housing, it is tax free and you can keep any amount left over without it being taxable income. If you don't have a tax home, then it is all taxable.
