Housing cost

What does your company charge you for housing if you have to call out? My company charges an hour rate (8.00) for each hour that I work less than the 36 hours per week. I know it depends on location, I just want to know the average. Thanks for responding.

That is about average. If you want to find out if it is a fair amount, find out what your housing amount is (including what is allotted for furniture and utilities) and divide that by the hours worked in a month.

By the way, make sure you have a clause in your contract that you are only charged back for housing for those hours you called off, NOT for those low census days from the facility, or if they do not schedule you for your full hours.

I was hoping to have more responses but I have one other question... What is the average commute to work for travelers. I am 16 miles from the hospital. Thanks

Usually I am within 10 miles of the hospital. I have been as far as 27 miles away, but that was a specific circumstance where my company told me that housing would be distant before I signed the contract. Traveling with a pet as I do can mean more limited options for housing.
