First, are your medical benefits based on a minimum number of visits or productivity a week (despite the number of HOURS you actually work?) If so, part of why you might be feeling pressure to maintain productivity is to keep you at benefit status. If that is not the issue, then I suspect they WANT you working as much as possible because you're an excellent nurse and a great resource and can't readily replace you or the fewer visits you'd not longer be covering. At any rate, if you can afford to reduce your visits and such, it may help to get a doctor's note stating such. At the very least you've got to stand up for yourself and establish boundaries.
To answer your question, if you are not full time status then productivity should not matter one bit.
My medical benefits are based on being a 3O hour status! I can afford to reduce productivity and still stay @ 30 hours! I am constantly asking them if i am payed hourly, and my insurance benefits are based on hourly, what does productivity have to do with it!!!!!!!!!!!! I am the "stand up for myself" nurse. Always have been. They do not like that. How do i get my point across. Everytime I bring this up,I get whole PRODUCTIVITY IS NATION WIDE,IF YOU WORK 40 HOURS A WEEK,6PTS. A DAY,YOU WORK 30 22 VISITS A WEEK. This does not make sense to me. I am protected under the ADA act.I am considered fulltime, kinda(those were their words) Yes,I am going over my doc and my requested reasonable work accomodtions for sum1 with a disability. Any advice?First, are your medical benefits based on a minimum number of visits or productivity a week (despite the number of HOURS you actually work?) I think it is probably one of two situations: either the productivity goal of 22 has not really been thought out in your particular case, or, you are receiving a lot of 'attention', for whatever reason. In view of you having spoken to them about it, they are probably sticking it to you the best way they know how. Management rarely likes to be challenged or questioned.
But here's the catch......all lpn's are paid hourly, and 40 hour a week lpn's see's 6 a day and 30 hour lpn's see 22 in their 30hours. Its not just me. My question is... A. I dont get it? B.How have they provided me with REASONABLE WORK ACCOMODATIONS UNDER THE ADA ACT? I am goin over 30 hours? An with all us lpn's...why is productivity such an issue if we are paid hourly???????????? I dont get it? And they can try and stick it to me,but it won't work.....I have a chronic illness,I Smart and am going to question this...rite?I think it is probably one of two situations: either the productivity goal of 22 has not really been thought out in your particular case, or, you are receiving a lot of 'attention', for whatever reason. hey gang.....I am an lpn, been in homecare for same agency 9years. Please ignore the lpn "status" I do everything from perux drains to wound vacs to administering meds via pic lines to drawing labs too pulling pic lines etc...........Ive alot of experience. Our RN'S do the Soc's,I,in my territory, follow the case from there. Here is my question. I am paid hourly. I have multiple sclerosis and have been ORDERED(more like yelled at) by my neurologist to go down to 30 HOURS per week.I work m-thursday,am expected to have a productivity of 22 pts.in those 4 days. Between direct time spent with pt. on procedure's,calling docs, dropping off labs, and the lovely job of computer charting,In my transaction log on computer,I am coming out with 10 hour days. So,if I am paid HOURLY and not SALARIED or BY THE VISIT......why is productivity so important????????????/ I saw 5 pt. today, had a total of 9hours41minutes. Explain this to me..someone please? I am in the state of Floriduh...I mean Florida. HEE HEE. I am so disposable d/t said disability, have tonssssssssssss of experience, and want what's right for me,my health, and my pts....Am I looking for the unreachable??????????????? Please, your thoughts, anyone.
