Hospitals in St. Louis, MO Tuition Assistance/Loan Forgiveness

Nurses Job Hunt

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone had any information on any of the St. Louis area hospitals tuition assistance and loan forgiveness.

I spoke with an SSM recruiter, and they said they offer $4,200 for full-time employees, and $2,100 for part-time. They did not say what their loan forgiveness program was, but did give me the impression that they have one

BJC just changed their program, and you can get $4,500 for full-time, and $2,250 for part-time. You are responsible for paying your costs upfront, and they pay you back thru your paycheck at the end of the semester (so it gets taxed). They also eliminated their loan forgiveness program.

Does anyone have any information on Mercy, St. Luke's, SLU, or St. Anthony's, ect.?

Thanks!

Mercy currently offers tuition assistance to both full-time and part-time coworkers that work at least 32 hours per pay period (or every 2 weeks). Our full-time coworkers are eligible for up to $3000.00 per year and part-time coworkers are eligible for up to $1500.00 per year. Coworkers are able to take advantage of this benefit after 6 months of service. The Student Loan Repayment Assistance program is designed to assist newly hired co-workers who have recentlycompleted an approved course of study in the repayment of student loans. (A student loan is defined as a loan from a lending institution made on behalf of a student to an accreditedinstitution of higher education. Personal loans and loans which cannot be documented as expressly for higher educationunder the terms of this policy are not covered by the Repayment Assistance Program.). The Repayment Assistance Programoffers up to $4,000 per year, up to a maximum of $8,000 over two years, to repay the balance due on student loans at thetime of application.

SSM will reimburse tuition up to $4,200 per year for full time employees. This is NOT a loan repayment program (SSM dropped that benefit a few years ago). People get confused about this. Tuition reimbursement is for school fees you incur and paid WHILE you are working. Any tuition you paid or school loans incurred BEFORE your employment start does not qualify. You have to pass the course(s) and submit your transcripts along with your receipt of payment for reimbursement.
