I am looking for hospitals that pay for a majority (if not all) of the costs associated with tuition and fees for their RNs to get a DNP while employed.
I've done a LOT of research, and here is what I have found so far:
- Rush in Chicago IL offers 100% tuition reimbursed at their own nursing school for any full-time employee of theirs up to 9 credit hours per quarter.
- University of Missouri offers 75% tuition paid at their nursing school for hospital employees up to 6 credit hours per semester.
- OHSU in Portland, OR offers 75% tuition paid for employees full time who have worked for them for 2 or more years.
- St Charles Med Center in Bend, OR offers most of tuition paid for RNs taking masters/doctorate programs at OHSU via distance/online learning.
That's it so far... A lot of hospitals offer $600-$5000 per year of assistance with regard to tuition for their nurses, but in today's academic landscape, that money is hardly anything compared to the total cost of getting a DNP.
Thought it would be helpful as well if we had an updated thread about this. Thanks!

My employer offers $4000.00 per calendar year to its employees to advance in pretty much whatever education they want as long as the classes are passed and you agree to a two year commitment.
Was your search only for hospitals offering reimbursement specifically for DNP education? So have you tried widening your net with a more generalized search?
FWIW, we used to get double that amount until our first Magnet certification...
I'm generally searching: "(name of hospital), (city), 'tuition reimbursement'". Then I read about their policies and programs that are offered.

UNC in Chapel Hill, NC will waive up to 3 courses per year at an NC state system school, to include all student/activity etc fees for the entire semester (so you can waive on class fall, Spring, Summer and get all the fees waived for the year!). Additionally they will reimburse 20 credit hours per year on top of that at the UNC tuition rate. So at a NC school you could take ususally 29 hrs per year fully covered. If you go to another school (not NC system) they will reimburse up to 20 credit hours at the NC tuition rate. It's really good as I did my RN-BSN in 1 year and only had to pay for my textbooks.
