There are four major systems in Indianapolis.
St. Vincent (a LOT of change going on) which includes a tertiary care facility, Peyton Manning Children's Hospital, a Women's hospital with the state's largest NICU, a specialty heart hospital, LTACH, a freestanding psych facility and a couple of suburban locations.
Community Hospitals have three main locations and a specialty heart hospital, large inpatient psych. My daughter works for them and they treat her well.
IU Health has two downtown hospitals that they are consolidating into one, Riley Children's Hospital, several suburban locations.
Last among the systems is Franciscan/ St. Francis. Smallest of the four and attempting to grow and build new locations.
The big public hospital is Eskenazi- affiliated with IU Med School but not an IU hospital. VERY nice work environment (I supervised clinical students there)
Hendricks Regional in the west suburbs is also a very nice work environment- used to work there and several friends are still there.
For anyone else who may be wondering, the Community Health Network is the only group of hospitals I have found.. so far.. to have a residency program. Eskenazi does not have one and neither do the IU hospitals.Hope this helps!
Actually St. Vincents had a new grad residency program. Their first one started this past May and their second cohort starting in September. St. Vincents is now a teaching hospital as well as IU.

I would check out exactly what the Community new grad program entails. It's not very long from my understanding and the orientation is short as well.
Hi! Not sure if you are still coming here or not but where did you end up getting a job at? I'm in the same position you were, graduating in FL and moving to Indianapolis after graduation. I also am looking into Eskenazi, so I'm very interested to hear how your job search went in IN. If you can share with me here or PM me I greatly appreciate it!

Hey all,
I'm a (soon to be) new grad from FL that will be relocating to Indianapolis after graduation. I'm just wondering if anyone can give me some input about which hospitals are the best to work for in Indy and the details about any new grad nurse residency programs that exist.
Thanks so much!
