Hospitals in Fort Wayne

Hello everyone! I could possibly be moving to the Fort Wayne, IN area and I am wondering what hospitals you would recommend working for. I have been working in the NICU for the last 2.5 years and would like to continue working in that area. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks :)

I don't live in Ft. Wayne, but I know of a few hospital systems there.

Parkview is the big one. They have several campuses. "Parkview Main" is the big one, and they have the NICU and PICU. I think Parkview North might have more kiddo services now too, but I'm not sure. I know for sure the main campus does, and that it is one of the referral hospitals in northern IN.

The other hospitals/systems are St. Joe, Lutheran, and Dupont.

I live near Fort Wayne (about 20 miles). I don't work at any of the Fort Wayne hospitals but have spent a lot of time at several of them doing job shadowing and different things. My mom works at Parkview. All of these hospitals are pretty big and are really good.

Lutheran: Probably the biggest. I know for sure it has NICU. http://www.lutheranhospital.com/

Dupont (owned by Lutheran): Maternity center is really popular known for their hotel like sevice. I'm not sure if they have a NICU. http://www.theduponthospital.com/

St. Joe (also owned by Lutheran): I don't think they have a NICU. This is an "inner city" hospital but does have a well known burn center. http://www.stjoehospital.com/default

Parkview: Probably the second biggest hospital. This hospital is also in town and is now being shifted to Parkview North. NICU is now at Parkview North I believe. Parkview North is a rather new hosptial with a brand new NICU that has rooms for each baby. http://www.parkview.com/

Hi,

I am currently seeking a job in the Fort Wayne area as well. Are you having any luck? I have applied to both Parkview and Lutheran with no luck so far. I have worked in tele, ED, and Nursery and offered to do Registry and pm's. I don't know if it is just me or are they just slow?

Just wanted to see how it was going for someone else in the area.

I won't be moving there till mid december, so I have decided to wait until after the holidays to start applying. It's not every year we get chances to not work any major holidays, so Im taking up on the opportunity. The only other suggestion I can make for you is to call HR department and ask to speak with a Nurse Recruiter, if they have one that should get you in the door pretty quick.....that has worked really well with me anyways. Hope that helps somewhat
